About Flame Treating Engineering & Company
Meet The Flame Treating & Engineering Company
Flame Treating & Engineering was founded in 1940 with Leo Benoit as the driving force. It’s first location was in an old horse barn on Homstead Avenue in Hartford, Connecticut. The immediate neighborhood contained Pratt & Whitney Machine Tool, Hartford Special Machine and Hartford Empire, all firms who would become major customers for Flame Treating’s flame hardening services.
In 1954, FTECO moved to a new 3000 square foot facility in West Hartford. Several additions and purchases have seen the facility grow to its present 15,000 square foot size. In 1956, the company began to offer induction heating services. Today, FTECO provides a wide range of flame and induction heating services to manufacturers of capital equipment, automotive components, screw machine products and their suppliers throughout the Northeast.
